We provide support so that people can do the things they love, achieve their goals and live good lives, ensuring that everyone has voice, choice and control – that’s the Mirus way.
We promote the rights of disabled people and their families, showing what is possible by removing barriers and challenging perceptions in society. Together, we will create an inclusive Wales.

We support people with learning disabilities, mental ill-health, autistic people and their families.
Our support services are shaped by the people who use them. We listen to and value each person’s unique voice and experiences, ensuring that everyone has choice and control in everything they do – including how they are supported.
Support services we offer:
– Shared supported living
– Supported independent living
– Flexible community support
– Respite and short breaks
We know that people have better lives when they feel part of their local community – and the community benefits too!
We work with others to build networks that encourage people to explore opportunities, discover new interests, develop relationships and enhance their independence.

We are Governed by a Board of Trustees – volunteers who help us to achieve our goals by ensuring we are always working towards them.
Our Trustees meet every three months to review our work and make sure that we are providing the right support.

We are a non-profit organisation, funded in a variety of ways including through local authority and health board commissioned support services, privately funded individual support services, and through charitable donations and fundraising.
We have a positive working relationship with Care inspectorate Wales and Social Care Wales.
We listened to what people told us matters to them, and created a plan for the future.
Our top priorities are:
1. Supporting people to live good lives
2. Investing in our staff
3. Growing sustainably
4. Influencing our environment
We are proud to be a Welsh organisation, and we are committed to continually developing the services, support and information we provide in the Welsh language.

We first became a registered charity in 1985, and we were called Opportunity Housing Trust. At the time, our main purpose was to support people who were living in long-stay hospitals, or at home with ageing parents, to move to supported housing within the community.
We changed our name to Mirus, which means wonderful and extraordinary, to reflect how we view our staff, services and the people we support.
Today, we work together with people, their family, friends, and other community members to develop plans that support people to get what they want out of life.
People have voice, choice and control in everything that they do, and in the support they receive.
