We consider the Welsh Language to be an important and relevant consideration in the way we plan and deliver our person-centred services.
Where possible, we aim to provide an active Welsh choice for the people we support through:
· Respecting language choice when people contact us
· Being clear and open about what we can provide in Welsh
· Considering the Welsh language in the way we plan our services
· Doing our best to provide information and support in Welsh when we know that it’s someone’s wish
· Ensuring that the Welsh language services available are easy to access
At Mirus, we are committed to supporting all our team members to develop their Welsh language skills and use the language confidently in everyday life. This ensures that the people we support, for whom Welsh is their first language, can communicate in the way that feels most natural to them.
To achieve this, we will provide support so that team members have access to learning and guidance that encourages them to succeed.
We aim to:
• Increase the number of Welsh speakers and learners throughout Mirus.
• Offer more support services in Welsh.
• Match people who want to receive support in Welsh with Welsh-speaking support team members.
• Provide opportunities for team members to develop their Welsh language skills.
• Increase the number of written and verbal communications we produce in Welsh.
• Welcome written correspondence in the Welsh language.
