Mirus Stars: 2025 Roundup

The 2025 Mirus Stars awards brought Mirus team members, people we support, family members, Trustees and partners together for a brilliant day at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea.

This year’s ceremony, held on Thursday 27th November 2025, was especially meaningful, as it marked 40 years of Mirus supporting people to live good lives in their communities.

The event opened with a warm welcome from our Mirus Ambassador, Adam who, alongside Head of Policy and Partnerships, Oliver, hosted the ceremony and guided everyone through the day. The hall was filled with colour, music and energy as people arrived, found their tables and caught up with colleagues and friends from across the organisation.

This year, we received an incredible 258 nominations, recognising 145 team members, people we support and teams. Each nomination told a story of courageousness, commitment and passion, and it was clear how much thought had gone into putting people forward.

Throughout the year since our last Mirus Stars event, our Mirus Ambassadors Alex and Adam read and reviewed every single nomination and selected the most impactful to become monthly Mirus Moments winners. These Mirus Moments winners became our Mirus Stars Semi-finalists and finalists, each one recognised for the impact they had made. Our Board of Trustees then had the very difficult task of selecting two winners for each category – one team member and one person we support. Every decision made reflected our values, and showed the incredible difference that people make every day.

During the ceremony we celebrated the achievements of our finalists and announced the winners across our five values categories: Together, Respectful, Responsible, Empowering, and Courageous.  We also recognised standout moments from Mirus during the past year, and the many ways that people go above and beyond in everyday practice.

Alongside the awards, the day included a live performance from local Swansea band, The Edits, who encouraged everyone to continue the celebrations on the dancefloor.

There was also time to chat and connect with others over a delicious buffet lunch. As it was our 40th birthday, we paused to celebrate this milestone, looking back at how far Mirus and the supported living sector has come since 1985, and looking ahead to the future of support in Wales.

Our Director Management Team led the crowd in the singing of Happy Birthday and Penblwydd Hapus, and our Head of Service, Pete Davies dressed as an inflatable birthday cake to motivate the audience to join in with cheering and clapping.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise, attended, supported people to take part, nominated someone, sponsored our awards and the celebrations, and contributed to the event in any way.

Nominations for Mirus Moments have now re-opened, and we encourage everyone to keep using the online nomination forms to share their stories. A new set of Mirus Moments winners will be announced in January, and your nominations help us to capture and celebrate the incredible moments that matter most.

We hope you enjoy scrolling through the photographs from the event, and the chance to relive some of the joy and celebration from the day.  Use the arrows on the left and right of the photo to scroll forwards and backwards through the image gallery.
