Adam and Craig are fundraising champions!

As part of World #AutismAwarenessWeek Adam and Craig, who are both supported by mirus, took part in their own fundraising challenges.

Adam, who describes himself as “a very independent person, with a little bit of Autism” said that he never lets Autism stop him from doing the things he wants to do – and is honoured to fundraise for Autism.

Adam’s challenge was to ride one mile each day for the 7 days of Autism Awareness Week, which ran from 29th March – 4th April 2021. Although Adam found it tough, he achieved his goal and raised an incredible £978.50 for Autism Aware UK!

Craig is also Autistic, and told us that he “never lets it get in the way of doing things and excelling at sports that he loves”. Craig decided to walk 7 miles for his challenge – and he absolutely smashed his target! He even borrowed Adam’s bike to add an extra achievement to his last day of his walking challenge. Craig raised a fantastic £160 for Autism Aware UK.

Together they raised an amazing £1138.50 and we are so proud of them for supporting a cause that’s close to their hearts. There’s still time to donate; click here to sponsor Craig, and click here to sponsor Adam.

Watch their video where they talk about their fundraising challenges, and what it’s like to be Autistic.

To show our support for Autism Awareness Week, our staff and people we support took part in #LightItUpBlue on social media. We dressed as much blue as we could find and shared our pictures to raise awareness. Here are a few of them below:
