We’re a Disability Confident employer
Mirus has achieved Disability Confident Committed status, recognising our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where disability is not a barrier to employment or career development.
The visits included reviewing care and support files, staff information and organisation processes – alongside feedback from staff, families and stakeholders.
At Mirus, our knowledgeable and passionate staff are guided by our strong values and have a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the people we support. The support they provide helps people do the things they love, achieve their goals and live good lives, ensuring that everyone has voice, choice and control in everything that they do.
During the contract monitoring visits, inspectors noticed positive relationships between our Team Leaders, staff on duty, and people supported. The report findings highlighted that our staff felt comfortable approaching managers for advice and sharing updates, with comments saying:
“(Managers) always lead by example.”
Additionally, the report revealed that our management team were prominent in recognising the level of support needed and areas where independence can be encouraged for the people we support. For example, SP has had support reduced from 2:1 to 1:1 in the community, RT has had all night time medication removed without negative effect, and AB signed his contract to become a Mirus Ambassador.

Liz Thomas, Area Manager for Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, said:
“It’s a pleasure to be the Area Manager of Bridgend – the team around me are so supportive of each other, and everyone works together to ensure that not only is good practice shared, but also problems are shared and solved as a team.
“Managers have different strengths, knowledge and experience, and so we work as a team to support each other – people are actively encouraged to speak out and ask for help or support, and this is willingly given.”
She said:
“I think this is key to ensuring a high standard across the entire region, and I’m thrilled that the dedication and hard work of all staff in Bridgend has been recognised in the recent Contract Monitoring exercise carried out by the Local Authority.”
Our services are shaped by those who use them – we listen to and value each person’s unique voice and experiences, creating an environment where everyone feels heard and understood. One stakeholder expressed:
“I have had some involvement with Mirus, who support a young man living in Maesteg. From information shared with me at reviews, their support to the young man has always been person centred, with him being in control of how he uses his support and activities he accesses with his support.
“The staff are always supporting the gentleman to think about his goals and what he would like to achieve.”
Staff at Mirus work incredibly hard, and it’s fantastic to see all their efforts paying off. Sara Davies, Director of Support Services, said:
“Bridgend have received Excellent across the board, setting the example for future inspections. To say I am thrilled with these results would be an understatement!”
