Andreya’s Christmas crafts stall

Andreya is turning her passion for arts and crafts into a way to make some extra money this Christmas.

Andreya has always been interested in arts and crafts and is always excited to try out a new technique she’s learned by watching YouTube video tutorials. Once Andreya has watched the tutorial video a few times, she collects the items and tools she needs to make the craft and has a go at making her own with the support of her mirus staff.

She’s always experimenting with different things, like crocheting, painting and jewellery making, and has made some really fantastic pieces over the years.

Andreya has lost some of her mobility over the years, so these craft projects don’t just make her happy, they also help to keep her hands and fingers flexible. She loves to cross-stitch and do anything involving cutting, sticking and wool.

Completing her crafty projects makes Andreya feel very good about herself. She is always very proud of her achievements and what she can accomplish, and all of the staff are proud of her too.

Andreya found out about the possibility of her own stall through her locality manager – Gaynor Roberts. Gaynor saw that there was a Victorian day planned for Andreya’s local area, and she secured her a table in St David’s church.

On the day, Andreya was supported by Jayne, Ruth and Rose, who helped Andreya to set up her stall and display her handmade tree decorations, wreaths and Christmas cards. She had made a big selection of items to sell, with the support of Helen and Lara back at home. Andreya felt very nervous about having her own stall, but was also very excited. She was grateful and happy that people were purchasing the items she had made herself, and that she had made some money from it.

In the past Andreya has made earrings and bracelets, and has also crocheted two baby blankets which she gave as presents. She has made Halloween decorations which she made in to bunting and used to decorate her home.

Andreya said that she would love to have another stall again and wants to say to everyone:

“Try it and enjoy it, it was fun.”
