We wish you a mirus Christmas!

People connected with mirus have been celebrating the festive season in lots of different ways. We’re sharing them to spread Christmas cheer!

Richard and Sam donating to Boomerang

The Christmas spirit of giving.

In Cardiff, Sam has completed his third annual collection of donations from people connected to mirus, and dropped them off to Charity Boomerang with his support worker Richard.

Each year, Sam works with Cardiff Area Manager, Monica, to organise the collection and drop off of good condition toys, art supplies and gifts for Boomerang’s Christmas gift appeal.

In Ystradgynlais, Community Network Coordinator, Jade, other mirus staff members and people supported worked with charity Community Dreams to spread Christmas joy to families in the local area. Read more by clicking this link.

Getting creative.

Jade and Kath have been hard at work making Christmas crackers at Friendship House in Swansea.

John in Cardiff wasn’t that fussed with Support Worker Michelle’s idea to make Christmas wreaths…until he spotted her “man tools”.  Then he got stuck into making this festive arrangement for his house. He’s now very pleased with his creation.

Beth in Brecon has handmade a gorgeous Christmas bauble to take and display at the festive Better Together event. Beth has been working hard this year in a shop that sells hand made gifts.

Ade in Ystradgynlais has hand painted some lovely Santa decorations to make his home even more festive. Ade LOVES getting his home ready for Christmas and always celebrates when his Support Worker helps him with the tree.

Santa Paws.

Annika from Central has dressed her Chihuahua Bailey up as a reindeer to get him in the festive spirit, and Julie from Cardiff‘s dog King is her little helper this year.

Cerian and Annika from Central have taken their dogs, King Charles Arlo and Miniature Poodle Walter to visit Santa. We hope they’ve been good!

Claire went Christmas shopping in Cardiff and met a Donkey!

Braving the winter weather.

Ceredigion staff member Stephanie has hiked up Yr Wyddfa in the snow and sun – the temperature was a freezing -12° at the summit!

Staff member Kelly in Swansea went sit-down skiing at Pembrey Country Park using wheelchair accessible skis! She said she felt very safe and loved her experience. Pembrey also has beach accessible wheelchairs and wheelchair accessible bikes, making it a great place to visit all year round!

Kylie in Brecon enjoyed dancing in the snow at 11:30pm.

The Cardiff wellbeing walking group enjoyed a chilly walk around Victoria Park followed by a meal at the pub.

Greg has been taking a chilly walk to the Keeper of the Collieries in Maesteg.

Michael, Louise, Natalie and Wendy from Geraint House in Neath Port Talbot and their support worker Kaylee went to visit the Winter Wonderland extravaganza in Swansea Marina to get their Christmas spirit started.

They had a wonderful time, going on rides such as the big wheel followed by hitting the rinks for some festive skating,

They loved the arcade and fairground game sand even won some teddies, before they finished their day out with plenty of hot dogs and sweets.

Looking festive.

Our volunteer Board of Trustees dressed up at their recent meeting in December.

Staff in Ceredigion have been getting in the Christmas spirit by dressing up as ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ in the office.

Pete in Cardiff made a fantastic job of decorating his tree.

Annika in Central met her friend to watch tacky Christmas films and put up each other’s trees.

People in Swansea have made a fabulous gingerbread house to decorate their home before eating.

Christmas catch-ups.

Respite held a mince pie and mulled wine event for carers in Cardiff.

Lots of people in Ystradgynlais, Swansea, Brecon and Cardiff met up at Better Together events, and for pub meals to celebrate the festive period with their friends.

Whatever you’re doing this festive period, we hope you are surrounded by the people you love.

Merry Christmas to all of our staff, volunteers, people we support, Trustees and to everyone else connected with mirus.
