“A did a very important job of interviewing for the new CEO position. He asked the candidates very good questions, and watched their presentation before giving feedback to the group. He also stayed around after the day had finished to be in a film talking about his experience.
A gave his own time to make sure the people we support were represented in the interview process. He asked questions that helped give an insight into how the candidates would respond to the people we support – and gave his honest feedback about how he thought they did. His participation has meant that people we support were represented in the CEO interviews. The film that he was in afterwards is a great tool for encouraging others to be involved in interviewing people who want to work for mirus – and we’re sure he will inspire many people to get involved in future.”

“L was part of a panel of people we support who met with the CEO candidates and gave their honest feedback about them.
They gave their time voluntarily to ensure that the views of the people we support were represented. They met and spoke to candidates for the important job, and gave honest feedback about them after. They are a great representative for people we support, and their feedback has helped to ensure that we only consider people who share our values to work for mirus. They were courageous and stood up for what they thought was right.”

“F gave up her own time to be part of filming for the ‘I Choose my staff videos’. She answered lots of questions and was a star in front of the camera.
Her courage to star in a video will help others to see the different ways they can get involved with choosing their own staff. This will make people more in control of the support they receive.”

“In her role as Community Network Co ordinator J made contact with Ystradgynlais Community Dreams, a charity run by two members of the local Community ( nurses) to support families who are struggling financially. Community Dreams had decided to ask for donations for Second hand toys that could then be given to families who were struggling to find the money to pay for Christmas presents. Jade went over and above in her efforts to gather toys. As well as setting up collection points in all the offices Jade used her personal contacts ( Facebook etc) to gather donations. People and Community groups brought items to her home which was quickly overrun with toys. J spent many hours on the road to Ystradgynlais dropping off car loads of toys which people had donated. But J did not stop there – she was a key player in arranging the event with Community Dreams. Her enthusiasm was infectious and lots of people from mirus got involved on the day. It was a wonderful event as the quotes from the day will show…..and also a joyous occasion bringing people together ( see ridiculous photo bombing by yours truly !) This was all down to Jade – her hard work, dedication and her overwhelming desire to help others in a community who were struggling.
mirus now has an ongoing relationship with Community Dreams, and will be working closely with them in the future.”

“L was on shift when a staff member took a turn for the worst with a suspected stroke. L took charge immediately and phoned for an ambulance, she was advised it would take hours for an ambulance to arrive. L thought quick on her feet and used a mobile hoist in the service and hoisted the staff member into a wheelchair and with permission from a person supported transported the staff member to hospital using their vehicle. L showed great courage and responsibility. L managed the situation with such bravery and kept the staff members dignity and privacy in tact. The staff member was in hospital within the hour receiving treatment.
The staff member was in hospital in minutes and received the treatment she required and kept the staff members dignity and privacy at all times.”
Jordan Howard – Empowering

“Jordan has been showing great leadership at Milestone close. Showing staff how to best support people. His direction has given his colleagues a lot of confidence when supporting.
Jordan has helped me complete support plans i.e personal care plans.
Jordan has made a few example videos on how best to support people in certain activities which has helped myself and the other team members a lot – it’s a really unique learning tool.
When we have been short staffed Jordan has stepped up and helped out. I am very grateful to him.
Staff confidence has increased, everyone’s approach to support is consistent, and he has helped the people we support be able to do all the activities they enjoy.”
