Congratulations to our February Mirus Moments winners!

A Mirus Moment is when someone has done something special.

People supported by Mirus, and Mirus staff can nominate each other to be in with a chance of winning a £20 Love2Shop voucher.

We’ve now made our online form even quicker and easier to complete, so we would love you to nominate even more people!

You can nominate online at this link: bit.ly/mirusmoments

Why were they nominated?

Ross S, Supported by Mirus – Swansea

Ross started a fitness journey, and has inspired the entire household to become fitter and healthier – including the staff!  Ross is putting in a lot of effort to stay healthy.

He’s also pursuing job opportunities and actively participating in activities that help the community, and is making positive contributions to maintaining his home.

Berian J, Supported by Mirus – Ystradgynlais

Berian volunteers at the Foodbank and Warm Space every Thursday at the Ystradgynlais community centre. He always arrives early to provide food to those who are struggling to afford to buy it for themselves and their families. Berian makes sure everyone has a good time, putting smiles on their faces. Volunteering has had a positive impact on both Berian and the local community.

His volunteering has made a big difference to those he helps, and they are very grateful. Volunteering also gives Berian a sense of fulfillment, and he likes knowing he’s making a difference in his community.

Nathan R, Supported by Mirus – Swansea

Nathan has been working very hard in his volunteering role for Bernado’s charity shop. He has been volunteering twice a week and has shown dedication and commitment since the very first day. Nathan has completed lots of training and has developed new skills. This is his second volunteering role, as he also works at a local coffee shop. The staff are very pleased with his work and he has a great work ethic and determination. Nathan has made new friends there and is really enjoying it.

Nathan has also helped his local community by raising money and awareness for children in need.

Michaela Adams, Mirus Staff – Bridgend

Michaela has gone above and beyond to support and encourage Adam to reach his full potential. As one of the local area reps, Adam has been an outstanding ambassador for Mirus values, and Michaela has played a significant role in this.

Michaela has supported Adam to travel across the country to deliver his message, always focusing on his strengths and abilities. She always looks for reasons why Adam CAN do something, and does everything she can to support him to make it happen. With her support, Adam has now secured paid employment.

She is truly inclusive, making her a joy to work with. She would be a great fit for the manager training program.

Claire Lloyd, Mirus Staff – Brecon

Claire joined Mirus in Feb 2022 as a Complex Support Worker at Kennard Court in Gwent. Her dedication to Mirus values quickly stood out, making a positive impact on everyone around her.

In May 2023, Claire was promoted to team lead in Brecon due to her skills and commitment. She quickly built strong relationships, earned praise for her professionalism, and improved the services.

By November 2023, Claire secured a secondment as Locality Manager for Brecon. Her empathy, strength and determination make her excellent at her role.

Claire’s influence has led to happier teams and a more settled region. She is passionate about self-advocacy and always makes sure people have Voice, Choice, and Control.

Neil Williams, Mirus Staff – Ystradgynlais

Neil joined Mirus in October 2023 and has worked across various services in Ystradgynlais. He always goes above and beyond for the individuals he supports, encouraging them to try new activities and learn new skills.

His cheerful personality and dedication to his job have earned him high praise from the people he supports, who are always happy when he’s on shift.

Recently, Neil supported a gentleman in making his own cheese toasties by using grated cheese instead of block cheese, making the process safer. This small change has given the gentleman a sense of pride and independence, as he can now make his lunch on his own.
