Our refreshed values – what’s next?

At the end of 2019 we invited everyone connected with mirus to take part in the process of refreshing our values. The exercise we created was a conversation with staff, volunteers, people supported, and their families.

We had lots of people talking and telling us what was important to them, and the words that described what they valued. Once we gathered all the feedback, we set up a values task group to sort through the ideas and words and organise them into similar themes.

We have now collectively decided on our five values; Together, Respectful, Responsible, Empowering and Courageous, and have created values statements that help us to define what each value means.

To help us embed our values, we would like each service, team, or area to contribute to bringing our values statements to life, by describing what the statements mean to them, and what behaviours they expect to see when people are being true to our values. We want you to work in a collaborative way, so please think about the best way for your team or service to get everyone involved, and contribute to your task sheet as a collective.

Watch our video (above) that shows the process so far, and how you, your team, the people you support, and their families can get involved in shaping our behaviour statements.
