Victoria Fletcher, Mirus team member in Brecon

If you looked up the word ‘Responsible’ in the dictionary, you would find a picture of Vicky next to it….. Vicky has been with the organisation for a number of years…more than you can count on your fingers and toes.
As all with testify, Vickys dedication to the People we Support and her team is unquestionable. Each shift, Vicky takes responsibility, leads by example and ensures tasks are completed meticulously, ensuring the People we Supports days go as well as possible, their bills are paid, their home is cosy and well maintained and bellys are full…
The main reason for this nominations Vickys unwavering dedication and determination to ensure the People we support have their physical and mental health needs met. Over the years Vicky has gone above and beyond to advocate for individuals who could have quite easily been overlooked. Standing strong with health professionals, never giving up and making a difference. Because of Vickys determination, guidance and strong voice, 2 People we support in Brecon are receiving care that they could have missed out on via the NHS. Thank you Vicky and keep shining like the star you are!

Sian Morris, Mirus team member in Central Services

I was recently feeling overwhelmed with certain situations that have come up. I realise that all services are feeling the impact of the new structure and adjusting to new roles and responsibilities, and support is harder to get now. However, I reached out to sian for advice and Guidance. Sian was really busy but i sent her a teams for guidance and support.
Sian went above and beyond to be supportive, put me in the right direction and explained things in a way that broke them down in smaller more realistic tasks. Sian even offered to do a HR session to increase mine and my collegues knowledge on certain things we wanted more guidance on.

This instantly calmed me and got me back on track, and i dont think she realised how just talking through things made me feel engaged again and confident.
Sian did this with such professionalism and kindness.

Thank you sian

Joanne Davies, Mirus team member in Gwent

Jo organised a Bank Holiday Roast Hog Day at Kennard Court inviting PWS families along.
Lots of family members attended and all PWS had an enjoyable time. Nice to see everyone engaging with one and other. Also future PWS attended with her family which was good to meet the team. This was all organised by Jo who also provided the food and catered. Top chef and she rocked the chefs hat. Well above and beyond such a lovely lady. Good time was had by all.

Lauren Richards, Mirus team member in Bridgend

Lauren Richards went above and beyond her duties as a support staff worker when Richard Colbridge experienced a serious fall and was admitted to hospital via ambulance. Although her long sleep shift, into a day shift had officially ended at 5pm, Lauren chose to attend to the hospital, ensuring Richard’s safety and wellbeing throughout the incident. Lauren was with in hospital and returned home after he was safely discharged at approximately 9pm.

Lauren’s actions exemplify the Mirus value of being responsible. She demonstrated exceptional commitment, compassion, and professionalism by prioritising the needs of the person she supports, even outside of her scheduled working hours. Her dedication made a significant difference during a distressing situation for Richard and his family, and reflects the highest standards of care and responsibility.

Elaine T, supported by Mirus in Cardiff

Elaine has been working hard to improve her sugar levels and lose weight! Elaine has had a lot of emotional strain recently, but has not let this faze her and has continued to make good choices with her food! So much so, her recent appointments has shown improvements to her health which she is so proud of! Well done Elaine! We at Church Road, are all so proud of you!

Barry J, supported by Mirus in Gwent

Barry moved into Stow Park Circle in July of this year. Since moving in Barry has been the perfect host in his new home, welcoming guests with a smile and a hand shake. Barry is always mindful of his co-tenants, being respectful of their space and feelings as well as being a good friend and role model. Barry loves to help out in the house and join in with cooking and other activities. Barry could also have been nominated in the Courageous category too as he has come out of his shell since moving in. Barry’s vocabulary and use of words is improving by the day, seeing him communication with his peers and staff becoming more relaxed. He’s also a complete legend in the humour department. Keep it up Barry.

Charlie W, supported by Mirus in Gwent

If I had to describe someone with the words from a song, they would be

“You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen”

Charlie is our very own Dancing Queen. In the short time Charlie has been living at Kennard home, Charlie has made a big impact, breathing a new, energising lease of life into Bleanavon. With her humour, wit, cheeky charm, makaton, karaoke skills and epic dance moves, Charlie is a wonderful force to be reconned with. Charlie has taken a big step at 21, moving into her own tenancy, learning new skills, making new friends whilst taking Kennard Court by storm. Keep dancing Charlie.

Michael C, supported by Mirus in Gwent

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be made to feel the most special person in the room? if you take a visit to Stow Park Circle when Michael is home, you will wonder no more!
The first time I met Michael I was bowled over by his charm, smile, respect and want to make you feel welcome and happy in is home. With an infectious smile, he greeted me and began to chat.
This treatment isn’t just for guests. Michael makes sure that his peers are happy and included at all times, always inviting them out on adventures (especially if it involves a bus ride). Nothing is too much trouble for this gentleman. He is one in a million.

Special Mentions

Gwent Region
I would like to make a special mention to the whole region of Gwent following the recent Excellent result in the CIW inspection. The team have been working extremely hard to ensure the people supported are receiving excellent care & support. The teams in the region all work really well together, encouraging each other to be their best and supporting each other when needed. They have really pulled together over the past 18 months to make significant improvements that were needed and this has been recognised both internally and externally. Well Done Team!

Woodlands Avenue, Swansea
After a period of ill-health and an extended stay in hospital, the Woodlands Avenue team in Swansea gave SP a huge welcome home:
The homecoming was more than just a return—it was a reunion of hearts. Staff and family came together, united by a shared purpose: to provide SP with the best possible care and support. The team didn’t just do their jobs—they went above and beyond, adjusting their own life-work balance to ensure SP’s recovery was smooth and filled with compassion.
Their dedication was extraordinary. They encouraged one another, shared responsibilities, and created an environment of warmth and healing. It was a true example of what can be achieved when people come together with empathy and commitment.
Today, SP is progressing very well. Each step forward is a testament to SP’s resilience and the unwavering support of those who stood by during the darkest times. We are all deeply moved and proud to witness SP’s recovery.
I would like to take this moment to sincerely thank every member of the staff. Your unity, kindness, and tireless efforts made all the difference. You supported each other, lifted each other up, and never gave up. This story is yours too—a story of getting together, standing strong, and making hope real.

Gwent Complex
No one gets left behind… A quote from one of the finest films of all times. The Goonies. These four ladies stand true to that quote. Over the past months, as a team, the ladies have worked tirelessly, opening a new service, moving a new person we support in, preparing for inspection (did I mention we got an excellent). Preparing 6 new person centred practice files, attending events, leading by example, compiling a whole host of compliments and at the same time managing 4 challenging yet rewarding services. This management team have worked together to ensure “no one gets left behind”. They have made sure their new teams have been embedded in the Mirus values, that the teams in situ have lead by example, the people we support moving in have had he best experience with their families have been put at ease knowing their loved ones being happy and cared for. We look forward to offically celebrating the opening of stow park and also our Excellent CIW result! Thank you ladies for all you do!!

Lanwade Close Team, Cardiff
The staff at Landwade have received countless compliments from LIJs family since the loss of her mother. The staff have not only supported LIJ but exteneded this support to her family in this extremely difficult time alongside dealing with the loss of Ann themselves. This experience has really proven the strong connections between the team and the way they have been there for eachother has been a pleasure to watch despite the circumstances.

A huge thank you to the amazing staff team at Lluest for their hard work, collaboration, and dedication.
