We’re a Disability Confident employer
Mirus has achieved Disability Confident Committed status, recognising our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where disability is not a barrier to employment or career development.

The funding, alongside existing funding from Cardiff Council’s Intermediate Grants scheme, will allow the group to expand their work in Cardiff.
The purpose of the group is to reduce the isolation often experienced by people with a learning disability, including Autistic people, people with physical impairments and mental ill-health, by providing a safe environment to enjoy activities. These activities are organised and supported by volunteers to help build confidence, encourage independence, and develop and maintain friendships within the community.
In addition, the group acts as another respite option for families/carers of a person with a learning disability. The group aims to help people who receive little social care services and, as a result, may be more isolated – ultimately helping to reduce the need for paid support and supporting people towards independence through social networks.
Several group members told us how important the Stronger Communities group has become to them for building relationships and connections in the community, making friends, developing skills and discovering new interests. With this in mind, the money will help the group to reach more people, organise more activities, and continue building an inclusive, thriving and supportive community.
Mirus Chief Executive Kirsty Davies-Warner expressed her excitement and said:
“It’s an exciting step forward for the Mirus: Stronger Communities group, and I can’t wait to see the positive impact this will have.”
Jade Flynn, Community Development & Volunteer Lead, said:
“We recognised that the social groups are now more community based, taking part in or leading community projects themselves. The funding is going to give us more of a presence in communities.”
Volunteers are present to offer support if needed, but being able to attend group activities without paid support is a great way for the people we support to increase their confidence and independence.
Mark Griffiths, who leads the Stronger Communities group in Cardiff, said:
“We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help support the group and our activities, especially as we are growing. Volunteers play a key role in supporting the group, and volunteers tell us they get a lot out of being involved as well.”
At Mirus, we believe life is better when we come ynghyd – together. We want to create a thriving, inclusive community in Cardiff where everyone feels heard and valued. Together, we aim to build strong local networks that encourage people to explore new opportunities, develop relationships and find connections through shared experiences. We are committed to playing our part in making Cardiff a place where everyone can contribute and benefit from the vibrant community life.
Whether you’re looking to make new friends, discover new interests, volunteer or just be part of something bigger, there is a place for you with Mirus: Stronger Communities. Let’s come ynghyd and make our communities stronger together.
