#SpringForward competition
Spring is a time for positivity and new beginnings. To celebrate the start of longer days and better weather, staff, volunteers and people supported have been taking part in the #SpringForward competition.
mirus is governed by a Board of Trustees. All of our Trustees are volunteers who bring a wealth of experience and a genuine interest in the work of mirus.
mirus employs a team of dedicated, professional staff to run and support all our services on a day to day basis but ultimately the legal and financial responsibility lies with the Board of Trustees. The trustees are volunteers, they are also the Directors under company law.
Nick Beckett (Chair of the Board)
Before retiring, Nick had a successful career in Retail and Property Management, but has always felt that he wanted to volunteer to make a difference to people’s lives. Nick’s father, wife, and daughters all work in careers that allow them to give back to the community, and Nick has always felt that he wasn’t – until he joined mirus as a Board member!
Deborah Bainbridge (Vice-Chair of the Board)(Chair of the Staff and Volunteers Committee)
Deb has a strong background in HR and has been a trustee of mirus for several years. Fairness and equality are very important to her and for the people we support, and she enjoys seeing people grow and develop.
Bernard Gibson (Interim Treasurer)
Bernard had an illustrious career in Finance and was appointed as a local magistrate. Bernard believes in fairness and equality and enjoys being a mirus trustee now that he is retired so he can see the impact the work we do has on people’s lives.
Roz Waterhouse (Chair of the People Supported and Carers Committee)
Roz is a former social worker and now retired, with a great passion for ensuring people we support live happy and fulfilled lives. Roz particularly loves to engage with the people we support and see the direct impact our person centred approach has. Roz is also a big advocate for staff and volunteers, and feels it is important their value and commitment is recognised as part of the work we do.
Helen Cook (Chair of the Remuneration Committee)
Helen is a HR professional who loves to be positive. It is important to Helen to effect positive change and make a difference to others. Helping and supporting others on many levels gives her a great satisfaction.
Jeremy Ray
Before retiring, Jeremy worked for many years in Banking. Jeremy has a daughter with learning difficulties, and felt that volunteering with mirus would give him a platform to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.
Ben Price
Ben is a journalist for BBC Wales with a passion for helping people and ensuring their voices are heard. He wants to make a difference in people’s lives and he feels that volunteering with mirus gives him the perfect opportunity to do this.
Dylan Ashpole
Dylan has a background in finance, and joined the Board of Trustees to give back to his community. Dylan is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and believes that volunteering for mirus will give him a strong sense of purpose.
During the Trustee Team Development Day, our Trustees developed a Team Profile, which can be found here: Trustee-Team-Profile-V2.pdf (mirus-wales.org.uk)Trustee Team Profile
