Promoting Independence and Improving Lives
18th Jun 2019
Launch of the new strategy for adults with learning disabilities.
We spent the day at the event to launch the Joint Commissioning Strategy for Adults with Learning Disabilities which aims to promote independence and improve lives.
Independence, choice and control for individuals with learning disabilities and their support networks is at the core of the new strategy, and we are excited that our mission and values embody this approach. The strategy demonstrates Cardiff Council and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's commitment to listen to people with learning disabilities and their families and support networks to understand what matters to them in order to support them to live their lives how they want to. Our person centred approach to supporting people does exactly that, and we are keen to continue improving how we work with and support people as individuals.
So many inspirational people shared their stories, and it was a wonderful event. Sophie, who we support, even got a special thank you in the closing speech for her hard work and smiley attitude at the event. Congratulations Sophie.
We are proud to be involved, and we truly believe that this strategy will work through co-production. We are Better Together.
